ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS!

THE 2009 TOUR took place on Sunday 17th May. Over 80 people took part, and four preserved buses that formerly worked from the depots we visited came along.

The Dewsbury Reporter very generously sponsored the event.

A grand total of £717.04 was raised for the Sick Children's Trust!

We are very grateful to the following:

  * Arriva-Yorkshire for providing the tour bus without charge and

  allowing access to the depots

  * The Dewsbury Reporter for sponsoring the event and giving it

  publicity

  * Dewsbury Bus Museum, for bringing Leyland Tiger 733 (EHL 344)

  * Gordon Brooke for bringing Leyland Tiger 622 (HD 7905)

  * Paul Goldthorpe for bringing Leyland Atlantean 768 (MUA 865P)

  * Adam Smith for bringing Leyland Lynx 252 (C920 FMP)

  * Those who donated raffle prizes

  * All those who travelled from many parts of the country to join the

  tour.

Photographs of the day are now posted on Tony Salmon's Fotopic Site - click HERE.

If you were there and took any photographs, please e-mail them to us for inclusion on the Fotopic site - click HERE. The Dewsbury Reporter may also be interested in using some of these photographs.

Reports of the day are scheduled to appear in The Selby Times on Thursday 21st May, and in The Dewsbury Reporter on Friday 22nd May.

If you were unable to attend, but would like to make a donation, this can be done, using any major debit or credit card by clicking this link:

FEEDBACK from the 2009 TOUR

Please let us know what you thought of it. Click HERE to send us a message.

1. From David Verity (passenger):

Tony- a note to thank you for all the hard work which you and your colleagues put in to organising and running yesterday's tour - and congratulations on the magnificent financial result.

As my locality is served by First I had mixed feelings about the wisdom of spending a whole day on modern bus seats, but I was pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort- not to mention your very professional driving.

2. From Andy Pickering (Sick Children's Trust):

Tony - that is fantastic news. I am so pleased the Tour was such a success. Thank you for also making it a success for The SCT - as you know, your contribution will be put to very good use. I was pleased to read on your blog that Bethany is still improving after her transplant.

Many thanks again.

Best wishes to you and your family.

3. From Adam Smith (owner of Lynx C920 FMP):

That's an excellent amount to have raised from the day! It was very enjoyable, despite the odd rain shower it didn't spoil the day.

4. From Jane McHale (Sick Children's Trust):

Just got the pictures Tony, looks like everyone had a great day and the weather didn't spoil it. Many thanks once again, you are a great Ambassador for The Sick Childrens Trust.

5. From Craig Bell (passenger):

Just want to say a big thank you for yesterday's Arriva tour. It was well organized and ran very smoothly and well done for raising such a great amount for the SCT.

6. From Gez (passenger):

Hi Tony. Just a quick note to thank you for yesterday's tour, a most pleasant day, not got around to supping any tea out of my raffle prize, [an Arriva mug], but it will go down well sitting on the table in the office [at Stagecoach Lancaster]

7. From James Frisby (passenger):

Many thanks for organising such a splendid tour on Sunday - I have been a big fan of Arriva for many years and to see what goes on 'behind the scenes' was a fascinating and informative experience, and one that will hopefully be of some use in the future as well, as I am currently applying for Arriva's Graduate management scheme for when I finish university next year.

Glad to see that all the effort you, Arriva and the sponsors put into the event paid off by raising a fantastic amount of money - it was even more of a priviledge attending knowing that we were supporting a worthwhile cause. Thanks once again, and hopefully see you next year!

8. From Paul Jenkins (passenger):

Could you pass on my thanks to Arriva Yorkshire, all the owners of the preserved vehicles and yourself for organising a very enjoyable day and for such a good cause on the Arriva Depot Tour 09. Had the feel of a good team effort which is a credit to the Arriva people at all locations visited.
